Jessica Burkart

Clarinet / Piano

Jessica Burkart has been playing clarinet for 23 years and teaching for 19, and has her Bachelor of Music from UBC.

Jessica is well-versed with Royal Conservatory of Music requirements and has successfully prepared several students for practical exams. Jessica has also successfully prepared students for auditions. Her students have been accepted into honour bands, and youth orchestras such as the VYSO, Academy Symphony Orchestra, Lord Byng Arts Mini School, GVYMA Symphonic Wind Ensemble, and the Richmond Youth Concert Band. Her students have also had success regarding post-secondary auditions and have been accepted into music programs at Capilano University, Kwantlen Polytechnic University, and University of Alberta.

Jessica has played with many large ensembles including the Academy Symphony Orchestra, UBC Symphony Orchestra, UBC Symphonic Wind Ensemble, University of Victoria Wind Symphony, University of Alberta Concert Band, Edmonton Youth Orchestra, Alberta Honour Band, and Northern Alberta Honour Band. Jessica has also had experience with chamber ensembles, including a woodwind quintet that won several competitions and played many performances.

Jessica likes to have fun in lessons and play at a high standard. She teaches all levels, from those who start their first lesson with the clarinet still in its plastic wrapping to advanced students preparing for a musical career.
