Allan Dionne

Drums / Percussion

Allan Dionne’s first exposure to music was in the form of accordion lessons, which he took for seven years in his hometown of Regina, Saskatchewan. After moving to Vancouver, he studied at the University of British Columbia where he graduated in 1995 with a Bachelor of Music degree in Percussion.

Allan joined the Celtic band Mad Pudding in 1997, with whom he has toured extensively. As a member of this group he has played at festivals worldwide, including Canada, the US, Denmark and Britain, and has performed with the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra. In 2009, Allan was asked to accompany Ashley MacIsaac for his performance at the Vogue Theatre, as part of the Vancouver Celtic Festival. He is also currently a full-time member of The Shona Le Mottee Band. In addition to recordings done with Mad Pudding and Shona Le Mottee, Allan can be heard on a number of other CDs playing both drum set and mallet instruments. He has also performed with the Prince George Symphony and Vancouver Philharmonic Orchestras. Allan has been teaching and performing in the Vancouver area since 1995. He gives private lessons and teaches Drum Set Basics classes at the Shadbolt Centre for the Arts.
