Studio Musician Program
Acceptance in to this music program is by audition only. It is designed for students who wish to train to be studio musicians. What is a studio musician? A studio musician is an outstanding performing musician/artist and can sight-read on the spot, and play in many different musical styles. An example would be someone who just wrote a commercial jingle but cannot play any musical instruments. The person would then hire a studio musician who would come into the studio, look at the music for the first time and then within a few minutes record what is in front of them. A Studio musician must be versed in classical and jazz repertoire and have a plethora of melodies in their head. The studio musician should also play by ear, read music, improvise and have great rhythmic abilities. Projects could include recording projects, commercials and CD albums.
